Starbucks China has launched its first energy drink, which is added with red ginseng as an ingredient.
In early June, Starbucks launched its canned ready-to-drink energy drink, Icy Refreshing Passion Fruit Flavor, at Sam’s Club. This new product features a low-sugar, zero-fat healthy formula, with three core energy ingredients: taurine, green coffee, and red ginseng. It contains green coffee concentrate and red ginseng extract, with 1000 mg of green coffee concentrate, 35 mg of red ginseng, and 23.8 mg of taurine per 100 ml. The product is also fortified with vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and nicotinamide.
This marks a further expansion of Starbucks China’s ready-to-drink business. Back in March this year, Starbucks China launched the Starbucks Coconut Latte, a product featuring a low-sugar profile and rich coconut aroma. In March 2024, Starbucks rolled out bottled Starbucks Coffee-Blended Juice Drinks in China, offering Pink Coconut Coffee and Mango Dragonfruit Lemon flavors.
In 2022, Starbucks launched the Starbucks Baya Energy energy drink in the United States in partnership with PepsiCo. This product uses natural caffeine from coffee cherries as its energy source, and comes in Mango.
